Listen to a tuned Mazda RX-7 sing its song on the ‘Ring

The third generation of the Mazda RX-7 comes equipped with a 1.3-liter Wankel engine pumping out 252 PS (249 hp / 185 kW). While nothing special by modern standards, it was plenty of power in 1992, and this particular car has been tuned to deliver even more.

Even now, 30-something years after its launch, the Japanese two-seater can take on rivals much more up-to-date than it is, and the latest video from the Nürburgring proves it.

The example in the video has been equipped with Zeknova semi-slicks and Volk TE 37 forged wheels. The engine has been retrofitted with a single large turbocharger instead of two serial turbos and tweaked to maximize the output. It now makes around 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW), a feat all the more impressive when you consider that the car weighs mere 1,224 kilograms (2,700 lbs).

Make sure to watch the full video that not only provides a great demo of the RX-7 in action but also reveals its gorgeous soundtrack.
