McLaren Special Operations has released a one-off custom build of its P1 GTR hybrid racecar adorned with the livery once associated with famous Brazilian racing driver Ayrton Senna. The vehicle belongs to McLaren’s Ultimate Series and was built against a custom order from a car collector.
The car goes by the name of Beco (this is what Ayrton’s parents used to call him in his childhood). Its body is adorned with the motto ‘Driven to Perfection’, the word ‘Senna’ and the Brazilian flag. Apparently, designers spent around 800 hours painting the body and applying the graphics.
The P1 GTR Beco features a wide front splitter, canards, deflectors, a Gurney flap, a custom hood and a heat-resistant screen overlaid with 24 carats of gold. Thanks to the optimized aerodynamic kit, the vehicle enjoys up to 800 kilograms (1760 lb) of downforce.
The cabin sports Senna bucket seats, an Alcantara-draped steering wheel and dashboard, and a custom driver’s helmet painted to match the car body.
McLaren Special Operations neglected to mention any changes to the drivetrain of the vehicle. If left in its stock condition, it represents a tandem between a 3.8L turbo V8 engine and an electric motor. Capable of 1,000 hp (745 kW), it should accelerate the vehicle 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.5 seconds and let it climb to a maximum of 362 km/h (225 mph).
