Hennessey teases upgraded McLaren 600LT, hints at 800 hp

Two months ago, Texas-based car tuner Hennessey Performance has got its hands on the first mass-produced copy of the new McLaren 600LT. The tuning is almost complete, so we may finally see what’s on offer.

Perhaps most importantly, the modded 600LT gets the suffix ‘HPE800’ to its name. Previous HPE800 releases by Hennessey included the Cadillac Escalade, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and others, all of them invariably tuned to deliver over 800 horsepower (596 kW). What this likely means is that the McLaren 600LT will be getting the same kind of performance boost, placing it on par with such serious supercars as the 720S and the Senna.

In its stock version, the McLaren 600LT comes equipped with a twin-turbo V8 engine with 3.8 liters of displacement room and 600 hp (447 kW) under its command. Its maximum torque equals 620 Nm (462 lbft), enabling it to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in mere 2.9 seconds and ultimately climb as high as 328 km/h (204 mph).
