McLaren unveils the production-ready Senna GTR

Following the debut of its Senna GTR racecar concept in 2018, McLaren has finally revealed to us what the mass-produced version of the car looks like. The company will only ever release 75 copies priced at £1,000,000 each, and those are already completely sold out in pre-orders.

Compared to its prototype from last year, the McLaren Senna GTR sports a brand-new front bumper design complete with a splitter and side winglets. It also has new mirrors, a rear wing for up to 1,000 kilograms (2,200 lb.) of downforce, and side sills. The rear diffuser is now shorter and located higher up, while the exhaust tips now reside next to the rear hood cover straight under the rear wing.

The McLaren Senna GTR comes powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine rated at 825 hp (615 kW). Imagine this kind of performance on a car that weighs only 1,188 kg (2,620 lb.)! This translates into an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 694.4 hp per metric ton. Despite the radically low weight, the vehicle still houses lots of equipment, including a fire extinguisher system, a radio station to connect with the boxes, air jacks etc.

Among other things, the car features an upgraded suspension based on aluminum double-wishbone links with adjustable shocks, 19-inch wheels, and carbon-ceramic brakes with massive calipers.

Driving the McLaren Senna GTR can occur in three modes named Track, Race, and Wet (i.e., for when it’s raining).

The first hypercars will reach their owners this fall.
