New McLaren Hybrid spotted in production body

The McLaren Sport Series will soon expand to incorporate a new hybrid supercar, which has just been spotted during its scheduled road tests.

Based on the photos, the newcomer boasts McLaren GT-like headlights and 720S-like exhaust tips squeezed in between the brake lights. Rumors claim that the car also comes based on a brand-new architecture that the company plans to reuse for its other models in the future, but this remains unconfirmed.

The technical specs aren’t available yet, either. In all likelihood, the powertrain will consist of a twin-turbo V6, a single electric motor, and a small rechargeable battery sufficient for 30 or 35 kilometers (18 – 22 miles) of purely electric range. Pre-selective transmission, limited-slip differential gear and cast-iron brake rotors are going to be included in all specs. Customers will probably be able to opt for such extras as leather seats, infotainment system, and a Bowers & Wilkins audio system.

The new McLaren should premiere late this year priced close to the £150,000 mark.
