The Great Britain-based luxury car maker McLaren has unveiled its latest creation, a hypercar named after the famous Brazilian F1 pilot Ayrton Senna da Silva. The vehicle has been primarily built as a sports car, but it would do just fine on general purpose roads as well.
The new McLaren Senna coupe makes intensive use of state-of-the-art tech and materials. In spite of weighing only 1,198 kilograms (2,641 lbs), it has good downforce and is easy to steer thanks to improved body aerodynamics.
The novelty comes with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 capable of 800 horsepower with 800 Nm torque. Drivers may choose between Comfort, Sport, Track, and Race modes. The interior design could be called minimalistic, although there’s much carbon fiber in use.
The new McLaren Senna will debut at the 2018 Geneva International Car Show in spring next year. A limited series of 500 cars has already been completely sold out in pre-orders, despite the rather hefty $1,000,000 price tag.
