It seems like comparing road-legal sports cars against racecars is becoming a trend: in this video by Driven Media, the iconic McLaren 570GT goes up against the aged Benetton B197.
Renowned racing drivers piloted the Benetton to victory eight times back in 1997, but how well will it hold its own against a more up-to-date sports car? Pretty well, it would seem: the racer commands 770 PS (759 hp / 566 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque, whereas the 570GT makes do with a V8 capable of 570 PS (562 hp / 419 kW) and the same peak torque. Making things even easier for the Benetton is its massive weight advantage of 825 kg (1,819 lbs).
But while it may look like the street-worthy McLaren doesn’t stand a change, it only loses the first drag race by inches. We won’s spoil the rest for you; just enjoy the video.
