The McLaren 570S has splendid aerodynamic performance straight from the factory, but the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) still devised a way to improve its downforce another notch.
The package is called ‘MSO Defined High Downforce Kit’ and consists of two main components: a large fixed rear wing made of carbon and aerodynamic guide vanes that go under the vehicle front.
The vanes are charged with the task of diverting the excess air from the rear diffuser and release it down both sides where the doors are. This reduces the drag and lowers the air pressure in front of the car, leading to a more even distribution of downforce. When driving at higher speeds, the extra downforce amounts to 75 kg (165 lbs), the company claims.
The upgrade kit can be installed on the 570S and 570S Spider, but is not compatible with the McLaren 570GT due to its differently-shaped rear.
