McLaren 570S to get a top-spec edition

The British car manufacturer McLaren is working on a hardcore modification of its 570S supercar. The company has published the first official teaser image of the vehicle in its Twitter account.

The special series gets the LT suffix, which stands for “Long Tail”. The same badge used to be assigned to McLaren GT racecars in the 1990s.

The photo shows the shiny new McLaren 570S LT sporting a carbon diffusor but no visible exhaust pipes. This might mean that it gets an exhaust system layout similar to that of the McLaren Senna hypercar, i.e. hidden under the spoiler wing.

No engine information is available for the new series so far. The base model comes equipped with an eight-cylinder, twin-turbo engine capable of 570 hp / 425 kW and accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in barely more than three seconds.

Industry-savvy observers speculate that the new McLaren 570S LT might take advantage lightweight body components to be as agile as possible. It is also going to feature reworked suspension and a custom body kit.
