British car builder McLaren has begun the production of 600LT –the top-end supercar model in the Sport Series, the most affordable McLaren vehicle family.
The McLaren 600LT is essentially a performance-boosted, lighter version of the 570S. It is 74 millimeters (3 inches) longer than the 570S, but otherwise has the same dimensions. It has a shorter exhaust with pipes facing upwards, and a new carbon-fiber diffusor attachment. Available options include carbon roof, seats and moldings.
The extreme Sport Series supercar also comes with improved brake mechanisms, revised steering and reworked suspension. It packs a 3.8-liter V8 engine capable of up to 600 hp.
There is no acceleration data publicly available yet, but the base model does 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.2 seconds, so the flagship can be expected to do the same in less than three seconds.
The McLaren 600LT will be available for one year, starting this autumn. Prices begin north of U.S. $240,000.
