The history of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race annually held at the Mount Pikes Peak, Colorado, USA spans more than a hundred years. The 19.99-km (12.42-mile) long racetrack opened in 1916 and it still famous the world over. McLaren Denver decided to honor the legend by releasing a special edition of the 600LT Spyder.
The Pikes Peak Collection series will emerge in cooperation with McLaren Special Operations (MSO) and will consist of just six cars. Each one will receive unique stylistic treatment in accordance with the in-house tuner’s MSO Bespoke and MSO Heritage plans. The available colors are White Gold, Nerello Red, Black Gold, Volcano Red, Aurora Blue, and Midas Grey.
Irrespective of the livery, all Spyders will get the same Speedline rims, pinstripes and the entire MSO Club Sport package. The latter includes carbon bezels for the front air vents, carbon intakes, titanium wheel hardware and carbon-fiber seats in the Senna style. Then again, the open-top 600LT ships with these in the standard configuration.
The interior will sport golden highlights matching the rim color, Pikes Peak emblems on the headrests and a commemorative plaque on the center console.
The batch comes powered by the standard 3.8 V8 TT engine rated at 600 hp (447 kW).
