The McLaren 620R debuted last December flaunting various parts borrowed from the track-only 570S GT4 – suspension, shocks and an adjustable carbon rear wing were on the list. Today, McLaren Special Operations (MSO) further accessorizes the supercar with an upgrade kit called R Pack.
The package contains a roof scoop, carbon fiber mesh in the front fenders, carbon interior details and the MSO Defined Titanium SuperSports exhaust system with Gloss Nano Black finishers. The latter endows the coupe with an especially sharp and loud (+5 dB) exhaust tone.
The R Pack costs £25,000, a healthy premium over the £250,000 of the standard 620R. The vendor points out that purchasing all items at once is going to be much cheaper than acquiring them one by one. Pre-orders have already started in Europe, Africa and Middle East countries.
Even in its production guise, the 620R boasts a formidable aerodynamic kit, carbon-ceramic brakes, Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slicks and bucket seats with six-point safety harnesses. The default equipment list lacks even such basics as an audio system to help keep the weight down, but those wishing for more comfort may ask to have any of the omitted equipment installed right back at no added cost.
The 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 the cars come with gives them 620 hp (462 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque, taking them from standstill to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and then to 200 km/h in 8.1 s. The top speed resides at 322 km/h (200 mph). The transmission is seven-speed semi-auto, and it drives the rear wheels.
