The McLaren 720S premiered over a year and a half ago, but it still remains among the most popular supercars in the world. Whether on a straight line or a racing circuit, the British vehicle invariably manages to beat all opposition. This even applies to some hypercars.
How does it manage that? Equipped with a normal 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine capable of 720 hp (537 kW), the car doesn’t look exceptionally powerful on paper. Still, it it just that good.
Now imagine the same engine getting an ECU update. That’s exactly what the owner of this McLaren did. The tuner never revealed any details about the job, but states that the vehicle is now capable of accelerating to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and eventually reach 341 km/h (212 mph).
Watch the video to see the ECU-remapped McLaren 720S blast through the quarter-mile drag strip in 9.6 seconds – faster than even the 1,000-horsepower Dodge Demon dragster can do.
