The hand-painted livery of this McLaren 720S Spider took 260+ hours to apply

McLaren Special Operations has caused quite a stir at the current Geneva show when it took the wraps off this unique 720S Spider. The tuner spent over 260 hours applying the tri-color livery.

The body of the car wears a relatively neutral Meteorite Grey paintjob. In contrast, its aerodynamic parts – the front splitter, air intakes, side panels and sills, mirror caps, rear bumper and diffusor – wear a combination of three exclusive tints, Abyss Black, Cerulean Blue, and Burton Blue. You can find the latter decorating parts of the 720S GT3 racecar.

According to MSO chief designer Darryl Scriven, the team tried to convey how the 720S Spider “breathes” in the air stream. He said the project could be viewed as a symbiosis of fine art and science (in this case, aerodynamics).

The same gamma carries over into the cabin as well. There is jet black leather sitting next to dark blue Alcantara and numerous visual carbon ornaments. There are also numerous McLaren Special Operations logos covering the interior.
