Novitec dials the McLaren 720S Spider up to 11

Capable of doing 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.9 s, the McLaren 720S Spider counts among the world’s fastest open-top supercars. You would think no one would want to tune it any further. Leave well enough alone, right? Apparently, Novitec begs to differ.

The renowned German tuner has released an extensive upgrade program for the model, including a performance boost to 806 hp (601 kW) and 878 Nm (648 lb-ft) of torque. Once upgraded, the 720S Spider completes the standard sprint in a breezy 2.7 seconds and can ultimately hit 346 km/h (215 mph). To help it cope with that kind of power, the company bundles it with a purpose-built, high-performance exhaust system (active valve available as an option).

On the outside, the Spider gets a custom front spoiler, a splitter with side flaps, ornamental carbon inserts for the headlights, side mirror caps, an N-Largo trunk lid, a rear spoiler lip, a rear wing, a diffuser with prominent fins, and rocker panel extensions. Some of the parts are made of Novitec’s signature ‘forged carbon’, while others seem to be the usual carbon fiber.

Wrapping up the list of changes are Vossen Wheels sporting a seven-dual-spoke pattern, available in 72 different colors and two polish options. The front axle gets 20-inch rims, while the rear end gets 21-inch ones.
