907-PS McLaren 765LT joins the eight-second quarter-mile club

There is no denying that even in its production form, the McLaren 765LT is a formidable track weapon with plenty of thrust. Apparently, a bit of engine tuning decidedly takes it into hypercar territory.

According to M Engineering, who is responsible for this build, this 765LT is the fastest-going example in the world. The scope of modifications is surprisingly tame: an ECU remap, new downpipes and racing fuel pretty much sums it up. Once finished, the tune raises the engine output from the manufacturer-rated 765 PS (754 hp / 563 kW) at the crank to 907 PS (894 hp / 667 kW) at the wheels.

Hard to believe? Then watch the video where the two-door track bullet zaps past a quarter-mile strip in mere 8.916 seconds, hitting 254 km/h (157 mph) in the process. It also reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) within 1.894 seconds from the launch.

The obvious conclusion is that the swanky new McLaren has heaps of tuning potential, so we should probably be looking forward to more impressive projects like this.
