An ad has recently appeared on an online car marketplace, offering to buy a queue position for the McLaren Senna hypercar for £240,000. That’s right: someone found a financial opportunity in selling a number plate which would enable someone to get the car without too much waiting in line. Almost all of McLaren vehicles are less expensive than that; even the top-end 720S is only £1,980 above.
The ad was deleted soon after it was posted. Maybe it was blocked by the administration of the marketplace, but then again, maybe someone actually did buy it?...
The hype around the new McLaren Senna hypercar is actually quite justified. The manufacturer only plans to produce 500 such vehicles priced at £750,000 and above, and the entire series has already been sold out in paid pre-orders.
Each vehicle takes at least 300 hours to assemble and comes equipped with a 4.0-liter bi-turbo engine with 800 hp / 595 kW at its disposal, coupled with a semi-automatic transmission.
The vehicle accelerates 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 seconds and hits the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark in 6.8s. It doesn’t hit its speed ceiling until 340 km/h (211 mph).
The series comes equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes, exclusive performance tires, an exhaust system made of titanium and heat-proof nickel-chromium alloys, an active body kit, and adjustable hydraulic suspension.
