McLaren has finally disclosed the main performance specifications of its upcoming 600LT sport coupe series. It gets a turbocharged engine with 600 hp at its disposal, a lightweight monocoque and a carbon aerodynamic body kit.
The vehicle will be able to accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in mere 2.9 seconds – 0.3 seconds faster than the 570S can. It will be able to get past 200 km/h (125 mph) in barely more than eight seconds and ultimately hit 330 km/h (205 mph).
The McLaren 600LT features an all-carbon monocoque construction, which has 25% more rigidity than an aluminum chassis. The body kit is also made of pure carbon and consists of side skirts, an enormous rear wing, a rear diffusor and a front splitter. All of the above generate additional 100 kilograms (220 lb) of downforce.
The vehicle comes powered by a reworked 3.8L V8 turbocharged engine now capable of 600 hp (447 kW).
The manufacturer will only issue a small batch of McLaren 600LT vehicles priced at U.S. $245,000 each. The exact production amount and waiting times aren’t being revealed, but the buyers will likely have to wait at least a year to get their car.
