McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt revealed some details about the impending release of the Speedtail, the company’s fastest-going hypercar to date. According to him, the new vehicle will feature a hybrid drivetrain centered on a powerful gasoline turbo engine similar to that of the 570S GT4 racecar. Its total performance will amount to 1,000bhp (745 kW).
The manufacturer is marketing its McLaren Speedtail as the successor of the legendary F1. The car will be part of the Ultimate Series, along with the Senna racecar and P1 superhybrid.
It will sport an all-carbon body along with a unique aerodynamic kit and offer three seats.
Unofficial sources claim the car will be able to accelerate past 390 km/h (242 mph), but Flewitt says building the fastest-going car on Earth wasn’t a priority. Instead, the company chose to prioritize steering comfort.
Slightly over 100 vehicles will be produced and sold at above U.S. $2,000,000.
