McLaren Artura set to launch on February 16

McLaren Automotive has announced a live event powered by Augmented Reality on February 16, 2021, where it will tear the wraps off its latest hybrid supercar, the Artura.

The luxury ride will come based on a lightweight chassis (McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture) and will rock a V6-based hybrid powertrain that will surpass V8s in terms of raw power and low RPM torque.

All-electric range will be limited to around 30 kilometers (18.6 miles), highlighting McLaren’s standpoint that electrification is more of a forced measure at this point when technology isn’t ripe for it.

The newcomer will slot in between the McLaren GT and the 720S. Chances are it will cost substantially more than the Sport Series’ 570S Coupe, while being vastly more powerful and around 40 kg (90 lbs) lighter.

On an interesting side note, the car follows the tradition set by the Elva, Senna and Speedtail models to have a personal name instead of an abstract alphanumeric index. It would appear that McLaren intends to release all of its future supercars with their own memorable names.
