Iconic McLaren F1 goes up on sale in the USA

A 26-year-old McLaren F1, one out of just 64 such supercars and just 7 officially imported into the United States, is currently up for grabs for an unspecified price.

Details are understandably scarce: all that the seller lets on is that the vehicle is in excellent condition with only two owners on record. Interested (and solvent) customers may contact the dealership for a quotation.

Powering the racetrack weapon is a 6.1-liter V12 mated to a six-speed manual transmission and a rear-wheel drive system.

The McLaren F1 only rarely crops up on sale, and the prices never fail to impress. For instance, one of the two road-legal F1 LM Series cars fetched its seller U.S. $19.8 million a year and a half ago, although experts expected it to go for all of $23 million.

Elon Musk once counted among the few people in the world lucky enough to drive a McLaren F1, but he left the club by crashing his ride in a road accident a year after the purchase.
