McLaren P1 successor expected in 2025 or later

McLaren CEO Michael Flewitt let it slip in a recent interview that the ideological successor to the iconic P1 supercar would not be coming to the market any sooner than 2025. Until then, the British brand would make do without new Ultimate Series vehicles.

This leaves the McLaren Elva (watch the attached video) at the top of that market segment for the next half decade.

Mysterious patent shots of a new McLaren supercar emerged in November. Media argued back then that it could be a Senna-based hybrid hypercar with over 1,100 PS (810+ kW) at its disposal. However, Flewitt never mentioned a car like this in the interview and instead lamented the Elva coming out at such an improper time during the pandemic. The company decided to cut the production run from the originally planned 399 down to just 149 units.
