Low-mileage McLaren supercar duo sells for nearly $2.5M

A McLaren P1 and a 720S went up on sale this weekend featuring lots of OEM options, the same Gulf Oil exterior and very little use on their respective drivetrains. Both reside in Canada and apparently belong to the same person, although the auction holder never confirmed or denied it.

Starting with the McLaren 720S, it is a year 2018 example with 1,999 kilometers (1,241 miles) under its belt. It wears a Gulf Oil livery of blue and orange with matching side sill accents and has a black leather cabin. Blue stitching all around and a zero-hour mark on the steering wheel reference the exterior colors. A four-liter V8 under the hood pumps out 720 PS (710 hp / 530 kW) and can take the supercar from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds. The winning bid was $346,000.

The other car is a gorgeous McLaren P1, number 108 out of 375 hybrids produced in total. It was made in 2015 and has since covered less than 3,100 km (1.925 miles). It uses a 3.8-liter V8 in conjunction with an electric motor to send 916 PS (903 hp / 674 kW). It’s an even faster sprinter than the 720S with a time of 2.8 seconds. The exterior is largely the same, but the interior has less Alcantara than the 720S, more carbon fiber all around and orange stitching. Select controls are highlighted in Gulf Oil colors. The bidder parted with $2,095,000 for it.
