McLaren Speedtail goes up on sale in Arizona

Emerging in a batch of just 106 units priced from £1.75 million each, the McLaren Speedtail still managed to sell off ahead of its premiere in October 2018. Those who missed their chance to get an exclusive hypercar may do so now – as long as they are solvent, of course.

The car with the chassis number 36 arrived at a McLaren Philadelphia dealership last fall. No details are disclosed concerning its previous owner or their motives, but the car will go under the hammer in Arizona on January 22, 2021.

Finished in MSO Heritage Atlantic Blue with white pinstripes running down the sides, the vehicle has mere 30 miles (48 km) on the odo. It is reported that the client paid McLaren Special Operations over $170,000 to have it customized. Highlights include a bespoke suitcase in the frunk and a toolset made completely out of titanium.

There is no predicting the winning bid, but things can get hot considering that a similar Speedtail with 125 km (78 miles) under its belt fetched nearly €4,000,000 in Germany not long ago.

The Speedtail model belongs to the McLaren Ultimate Series and sports a 1+2 seating formula, like the legendary F1 racer. Its powertrain is electrified and produces 1,070 PS (1,055 hp / 787 kW) along with 1,150 Nm (848 lb-ft) of torque, enabling it to reach 403 km/h (250 miles per hour). No other production car by the British marque is capable of such acceleration.
