Video: Bugatti Chiron challenges McLaren Speedtail to a drag race

It has been four years since we met the Speedtail, one of the strongest entries of the McLaren Ultimate Series lineup and limited to just 106 production units, too. In the video, the supercar owner accepts a quarter-mile challenge from a Bugatti Chiron driver.

What’s in common between the two cars? Both are blue, but different shades, and that would be it. The Speedtail is a hybrid based on a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, with the total output of 1,050 PS (1,036 hp / 772 kW) and 1,150 Nm (848 lb-ft) of torque. A seven-speed DCT carries the torque to the rear wheels.

In turn, the Chiron benefits from an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 churning out 1,500 PS (1,479 hp / 1,103 kW). The transmission is also dual-clutch automatic, but all four wheels are driven.

By now, you may think that the Chiron will have no trouble beating its rival to the 402-meter mark. If so, consider that it also weighs around 363 kilos (800 pounds) more. Intrigued already? Watch the race!
