AIM will unveil a sports prototype called EV Sport 01 at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Japanese company’s first concept car will take part in the traditional hill climb race, too.
AIM, which was founded in 1998 and had so far only specialized in automotive design and technology, introduced its first car in Japan in April. It was received rather warmly, but the company said it was too early to say whether mass production would be greenlit – the model was still running road tests.
Among other things, AIM has been using the prototype to test updated revisions of its APM200 electric motor. The coupe is a two-seater weighing in at 1,425 kilos (3,142 pounds) and driven by two e-motors together rated at 489 PS (482 hp / 360 kW). The peak torque is at 740 Nm (546 lb-ft). The traction battery holds up to 81 kWh of power and yields 300 km (186 miles) per charge. The dynamic performance and other specifics remain to be revealed.
