Meet the Airstream EStream, a battery-powered trailer home you can park remotely

Motorhome manufacturers have also caught the electrification virus lately, as evidenced by Winnebago unveiling a camping EV concept and Airstream coming out with a similar trailer home prototype.

In contrast to the vehicle that Winnebago debuted with 200 km (124 miles) of electric range, the EStream by Airstream is a trailer that requires a tow truck to be mobile. Despite this fact, it comes with each of its four wheels motorized by a dedicated electric motor.

What for? First, it helps the tow truck by keeping the wheels turning when on the road. Second, once you arrive at a destination, it can park itself in a chosen spot. A second battery concealed under the floor powers all the appliances on board day in and night out, Airstream says, adding that you can keep track of the battery levels using a mobile app.

The prototype appears ready for production, but the company does not reveal when it may go on sale, if at all.
