The Machina saloon by Hopium, a budding automaking company founded by French racing driver Olivier Lombard, rightfully became one of the most unexpected highlights of this year’s Paris Motor Show. Let’s see what it is about.
The company built the first running prototype of the car in the summer of 2021, but even the show car still has a long way to go until it is production-ready. The company claims it will start from €120,000, and everyone interested can make a pre-order against a €656 deposit.
The Machina utilizes an electric powertrain supported by a hydrogen fuel cell converter. Its dual motors join efforts for 500+ horsepower (370+ kilowatts) and take it farther than 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) once the tanks are full.
Note the openings in the front trim panel: they conceal twin radiators, automatically exposing them when a more aggressive cooling mode is required.
The interior is designed for four people, and everyone gets their own separate seat. A giant front display stretches all the way to the front passenger’s side, and the center console boasts another touchscreen of its own.
