As you may already know, German tuner Matzker KFZ-Technik usually deals exclusively with Land Rover vehicles (the two companies even have a cooperation contract to show for it). Still, it looks like even single-brand tuners welcome an occasional distraction from their routine. Meet their latest creation: the Mercedes X MDX Camper, a motorhome based on the Mercedes X-Class pickup truck.
The new vehicle is a whopping 5,650 mm (18.55 ft.) long and 2,230 mm (7.32 ft.) tall. It houses a sleeping area for two in its cargo bed and ditches the tarpaulin cover for a full-fledged roof equipped with solar panels.
Apparently, the camper truck doesn’t shun an occasional trip into the wilderness. To that end, it packs elevated suspension, meaty off-road tires and a rear diff lock. The cabin roof houses an auxiliary light rack and a spare wheel.
The inside of the car may fell tight, but it still manages to combine practicality with style. One major highlight is a kitchenette only 0.9 sq.m. (9 sq.ft.) large, which contains a sink, a stove with two gas burners, and even a fridge. You may also access the living room straight from the driver’s cab.
Unfortunately, Matzker KFZ-Technik never put a price tag on the unique Mercedes X MDX Camper.
