Chances are this 50-year-old Mercedes-Benz 280 S is the best restomod you’ve seen

Let’s face it, we’ve seen loads of great restomods over the course of the past several years. Remember the gorgeous 1974 Porsche 911 RS? The lightning-fast Ford Mustang Mach 1? Perhaps the vintage Ringbrothers Madam V dating all the way back to 1948? Believe it or not, but the car we are about to show you today will likely overshadow all of the above. It is just THAT good!

The project has been carried out by U.S.-based tuner Eurowise with a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 S as a starting point. The full list of changes is so long there is no way we are squeezing it into this news article, so let us just hit the highlights.

The entire passenger space of the old-timer makes use of quality genuine leather bearing a rare honeycomb pattern. There is also a Ferrari 458-inspired instrument panel, generous carbon trim, a multi-function steering wheel, a hi-end audio system, power windows and much, much more.

From the outside, the Mercedes-Benz 280 S by Eurowise looks like a typical North American hot rod. It sports a chopped roof, reworked front bumper and spoiler, high-power LED headlights, and ‘suicide’ rear doors that open against the traffic.

The restomod hits the road powered by a huge 5.3-liter Chevrolet V8 engine producing up to 650 hp (485 kW) in conjunction with a six-speed manual gearbox. In order to persuade the modern engine to work smoothly in the antiquated car, Eurowise had to equip it with an enormous oil cooler and a carbon cold air intake system.

Other notable features include a purpose-built exhaust system, 18-inch chrome-coated aluminum alloy wheels, Wilwood performance brakes, and a slammed air suspension.
