Mercedes-Benz EQC enters production

Mercedes-Benz has launched production of its new all-electric SUV called the EQC in Bremen, Germany. The cars will arrive on the market with prices starting from €71,300.

Mercedes first showed us the EQC at the Paris Motor Show last autumn. The car came powered by two electric motors joining efforts for around 408 hp (304 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lbft) of torque. It could sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in slightly more than five seconds and maxed out at 180 km/h (112 mph).

The production vehicle will ship with an 80 kWh traction battery good for approx. 450 or 470 kilometers (280 – 292 miles) of uninterrupted driving. You may replenish it at a dedicated high-power charging station (40 minutes) or using a regular wall socket (11 hours).

The Mercedes-Benz EQC might end up being the most affordable electric SUV on the market when it arrives. Priced at €71,300, it is considerably below the Tesla Model X (€85,000), the Audi e-tron (€79,900), and the Jaguar I-Pace (€78,250).
