Bring a Trailer has posted an interesting sales announcement recently, offering a 63-year-old Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing for a starting price of 1,000,000 USD.
The German company built 308 such cars back in 1956. The copy on sale wears a Graphite Grey paint and sports a light-grey interior. It has around 52,000 kilometers (32,300 miles) on its odometer.
The Mercedes-Benz 300SL packs a 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine that has gone through maintenance along with the brake system some time ago.
The cabin has also been somewhat refreshed lately, with some worn-out parts replaced by their modern counterparts. For instance, there is a Nardi steering wheel instead of the stock one. The whole restoration job lasted two years (from 2016 until 2018).
According to the data from the archives, George Sterner from Pennsylvania, USA, was the original owner of the car. He sold his vehicle to Edward S. Falk, a Pittsburgh surgeon, over 40 years ago. Bring a Trailer acquired the car after the latter’s death and has kept it since.
