Barely driven 1955 Mercedes-Benz SL crops up on sale

A well-maintained Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Cabrio is up for grabs in Sochi, Russia, for an asking price of ₽19,494,000 ($259,660 USD at the time of writing). The seller insists that it is worth paying for, more so than the new entry-spec Maybach S-Class that comes in at nearly ₽3 million ($40,000) less.

Back when it debuted in the mid-50s, the 190 SL was positioned as a more affordable alternative to the legendary 300 SL. It featured a simpler construction and a humbler 1.9-liter engine available in versions ranging from 105 to 120 metric horsepower. The one on sale is the less powerful one good for 105 PS (104 hp / 77 kW).

The seller claims they imported it from Europe with around 5,000 km (3,100 miles) on the odometer for €265,000. A stock Mercedes-Benz 190 SL in a similar condition (see video) currently costs around €284,000 in Europe, making this deal a potential bargain. Then again, some details are lacking from the ad description.
