Following similar releases for the A- and CLA-Class, Mercedes’ in-house performance tuner has come out with a 4Matic version of the GLB 35.
The performance-oriented compact SUV leaves the factory equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 306 PS (228 kW) and 400 Nm (298 lb-ft). Both the five-seat and the seven-seat implementations need around 5.2 seconds to get to 100 km/h (62 mph), and the top speed is capped at 250 km/h (155 mph). The AMG Speedshift DCT 8G transmission sends the power to all four wheels via the AMG Performance 4Matic system. Roll stabilization has three selectable presets, but cannot be switched off completely.
Even in its most basic version, the GLB 35 4Matic offers a Race Start feature for drag strip enthusiasts and offers five AMG Dynamic Select drive modes, including the ultimate Sport+ mode.
Outer differences from the regular Mercedes GLB are minimal and boil down to a new radiator grille, a roof spoiler, and new wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches in diameter.
