Retired professional racing driver Andrew Miedecke decided to celebrate 125 years of Mercedes-Benz in professional motorsports by restoring the legendary 190 E 2.3-16 Group A touring car to peak condition.
The particular sedan depicted here was built in 1986 by RSM Marko and sent to Australia to participate in the 1,000 Kilometers of Bathurst.
Miedecke began the restoration works earlier this year. He began by repairing all the main units and components of the car and then proceeded to refurbish the exterior, restoring the iconic yellow/golden livery to shine once again. In the end, the touring car looks brand new despite being 33 years old.
On a related note, Phil Ward purchased the car in late 1980s and drove it to several golden victories. The Mercedes then made it to the United States and only returned to its homeland of Australia seven years ago.
