MBUX: A state-of-the-art infotainment system by Mercedes-Benz

The German car company Mercedes-Benz has come to the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 in Las-Vegas, U.S.A. with its very own infotainment system, the MBUX. The new Mercedes A-Class compact hatchback will be the first to take advantage of the proprietary multimedia unit.

Curiously enough, the company chose the system to be Linux-based, arguing that it’s reliable and resistant to hacking.

In its base version, the MBUX (which translates to “Mercedes-Benz User eXperience”) comes with two seven-inch touch-sensitive displays acting as the dashboard and the infotainment screen, respectively. More expensive versions offer displays that are 10.25 inch large.

Each system is powered by a six-core CPU and an nVidia graphics chip, and has 8 GB RAM onboard. Last but not least, it can be controlled with voice and gestures alike.
