Care to buy a Mercedes-AMG toy racer priced like the real thing?

Replica maker Amalgam Collection has unveiled a scale model of the Mercedes-AMG F1 W11 EQ Performance, the Formula One racecar that won the Constructors’ Cup last year and brought Lewis Hamilton his seventh champion’s title in a row. Only seven will be made priced at $35,014 each.

The company usually specializes in 1:12 and 1:8 replicas, but this one is a remarkable exception being as large as 1:4 and 1,250 mm (48.8 inches) long, at that.

On the outside, the scaled-down Mercedes racer wears the same livery that adorned Hamilton’s car at the Portugal Grand Prix last year. The driver broke Michael Schumacher’s record by claiming his 92nd victory at that track.

The Brackley-based racing team helped design the model by providing access to the blueprints of all key parts of the car. If you thought producing a replica was not a big deal, consider that this one took 4,500 person-hours to design and a further 450 hours to produce a single unit from thousands of highly detailed parts.

Interestingly enough, Amalgam says customers are free to pick a different livery for the model, such as those adorning the cars of Valtteri Bottas or George Russell.
