A new series-ready all-electric Mercedes EQ vehicle will debut at the 88th International Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland on March 8 through 18, 2018. First cars will reach their owners in early 2019.
There isn’t much being revealed about the newcomer at the moment. The new Mercedes EQ will be based on the purpose-built all-electric EVA car platform made of high-test steel and aluminum for excellent endurance and weight.
Car professionals speculate that it’s going to have a driving range of at least 500 kilometers (310 miles). They also predict that the model lineup will consist of two crossover models, two sedans, and a hatchback. The latter was debuted by Mercedes at the IAS Frakfurt in September last year.
The first Mercedes-Benz all-electric crossover SUV concept premiered in Paris, France in 2015. Back at the time, it was equipped with two axis-mounted electric motors with 204 hp each. Driven by these, the car could accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under five seconds.
