As we told in an earlier story, Mercedes-Benz and the U.S.-based luxury yacht builder Cigarette cooperated on an incredible project – a powerboat styled after the unique Mercedes-Benz Project One hypercar. Today, we can finally see the results of their combined effort.
The powerboat which goes under the grand if somewhat overlong name of Cigarette Racing 515 Project One is a fusion of style, design and state-of-the-art technology. The vehicle is 15 meters (50 ft.) long, made of carbon and Kevlar, and offers accommodation for six passengers who feel like riding the salty sea wind.
Hey, it isn’t just a fancy metaphor. Once powered with a racing-grade fuel and ignited with a special key, the Cigarette Racing 515 Project One can evolve speeds up to the amazing 225 km/h (140 mph). This has been made possible thanks to a power-packed engine which can deliver up to 1,550 horsepower under peak load.
This isn’t the first time Mercedes and Cigarette work together. Another incredible powerboat styled after the AMG GT R supercar and packing full 3,000 horses under the hood debuted last year.
