Mercedes X-Class gets a diesel power train

Good news for those who prefer their cars big and strong: Mercedes-Benz has announced the forthcoming release of a new X-Class pickup truck model equipped with a diesel engine instead of a regular gasoline one. One of these will be exhibited at the company’s booth at the International Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland.

To be precise, the new Mercedes-Benz X350d 4Matic gets a 3.0L diesel V6 with 258 hp and 550 Nm of torque. It’s going to be shipped with 4WD in the base version, be able to accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 7.9 seconds and peak out at 205 km/h (127 mph).

Its road clearance will constitute a respectable 222 millimeters (8.7”). To facilitate driving in adverse road conditions, several selectable drive modes will be available.

The diesel-driven pickup truck hits the showrooms across its homeland of Germany this summer. Prices for this new Mercedes-Benz X350d 4Matic begin at €53,360.
