Mercedes A-Class spied with some mid-life nip-and-tuck

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class may be German’s brand niche model in the United States, but an important one all the same. The fourth generation debuted in 2018 and was due an update, which has now been spotted testing on the streets.

The refreshed A-Class seems to have a different radiator grille, bumper, and C-Class-style headlights. The rear end exhibits fewer changes, mainly focused on the bumper and the taillights.

In all likelihood, both cars are PHEVs, as the lack of visible exhaust tips seems to suggest. Mercedes announced an overhaul of its entire engine lineup a while ago, so many outdated powertrains will be replaced with efficient four-cylinder hybrids. We don’t know when the new A-Class will ship, but the standard specification might arrive before the end of the year, with the AMG A45 set to follow in early 2022.
