Even though the next generation of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan series only premieres in France in October, the manufacturer just revealed pretty much all there is to know about the international version of the car.
The updated Mercedes-Benz A-Class is 4,549 mm long (-91 mm), 1,796 mm wide (+19 mm), 1,446 mm (+14 mm) tall and has a 2,729 mm (+30 mm) wheelbase. For our U.S. readers, its L/W/H/WB are as follows: 14.92 ft., 5.89 ft., 4.74 ft., and 8.95 ft. You may remember that an elongated (4,609 mm / 15.12 ft.) version of the car has recently debuted in China, but it won’t be available outside of that country.
According to Mercedes representatives, the new car has a record-breaking low aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.22 Cx.
The engine palette consists of a gasoline engine with 163 hp (122 kW) and its diesel counterpart with 116 hp (87 kW). Both work in conjunction with multi-speed semi-automatic transmission.
The base equipment includes a digital instrument panel either 7 or 10.25 inches large, the latter being optional, an infotainment system with a touchscreen, and a climate control unit. There is also remote trunk compartment opening, adaptive cruise control, LED lighting, lane control and emergency brake.
The vehicles will be assembled in Germany and Mexico.
