LWB Mercedes-AMG A35 comes to China

On the opening day of the 2019 Auto Shanghai fair, Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off a special long wheelbase (LWB) version of its A35 Sedan designed exclusively for the Chinese market.

The smallest performance sedan/saloon produced by the German manufacturer now boasts 2,789 millimeters (9.15 ft.) of wheelbase, which is 60 mm (2.4 inches) more than in the standard version. Essentially, this means more precious legroom for the rear passengers.

The model comes powered by the same 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine rated at 306 hp (228 kW) and 400 Nm (298 lbft) of torque. The unit links to a 7-speed DCT and an AWD system.

The car needs 4.9 seconds to get going at 100 km/h (62 mph) and reaches its limit at 250 km/h (155 mph). Normally, it goes front-driven, but can relocate 50% of torque to the rear wheels when the conditions demand it/

The model features an MBUX infotainment system that shares its display with the digital dashboard.

The assembly will take place in Daimler-BAIC joint enterprise in China, but all engines will come from Germany.
