The compact crossover vehicle market has become increasingly diverse lately, and many cars are being advertised as performance monsters. But how do they hold up against hot hatches? Watch the video to find out!
The drag race took place in England and featured four cars: a Volkswagen Golf R and a Mercedes-AMG A35 went up against an Audi SQ2 and a Cupra Ateca. All four came equipped with stock 2.0-liter engines rated close to 300 hp (225 kW). In fact, the VW, the Audi and the Cupra even share the same engine model. All four benefit from AWD.
The AMG A35 may have a slight advantage due to its marginally lower curb weight, but other than that, the specs look almost equal. In a race like this, the actual torque delivery and gear switching speed is what plays a more important role than the rest.
