Yet another recently published drag race video pits a Mercedes-AMG A35 up against its range-topping counterpart, the A45 S. You would think the duo is largely identical, but the A45 S flaunts a Panamericana grille, has twice the exhaust tip quantity, and costs nearly $20,000 more.
Furthermore, there is no avoiding the fact that the A35 draws its power from a turbo-four engine rated at 306 PS (302 hp / 225 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. In contrast, the A45 S benefits from class-leading 421 PS (415 hp / 310 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft). Both use the same 8-speed DCT for transmission, and the flagship outweighs its smaller cousin by nearly 100 kg (220 lbs).
