Drag Race: V6-equipped Audi RS5 vs. World’s strongest V4 in an AMG A45 S

The latest Mercedes-AMG A45 S boasts the world’s most powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 425 PS (419 hp / 313 kW), which lets it go 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.9 seconds. Will it hold its own against an Audi RS5 Sportback with a V6 TT rated at 455 PS (449 hp / 335 kW)? Autocar India wanted to know.

The AMG four-pot with two liters of displacement outputs up to 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque as well, but still comes short of Audi’s 600 Nm (443 lb-ft). Where the Mercedes has an advantage is weight: at around 1,550 kg (3,417 lbs), it is substantially lighter than the RS5 with its 1,785 kg (3,935 lbs).

Both cars have all-wheel drive, but while the AMG A45 S relies on an eight-speed DCT to drive the wheels, the RS5 Sportback opts for an automatic gearbox.
