Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series spins off a special edition for the patient

Mercedes is offering an interesting deal for those faithful fans who had pre-ordered the AMG Project One supercar before its official reveal: another supercar.

The original Mercedes-AMG Project One Concept debuted way back in 2017, but due to the difficulties of making its racing engine viable on public roads, the company is still struggling to begin production. Shipments are expected in 2021, but in the meantime, the 275 customers who had pre-purchased the One will be getting the exclusive AMG GT Black Series “P One Edition”.

The limited coupe comes painted and trimmed like the Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+ revealed last year, and packs a V8 rated at 720 hp (537 kW). It inherits quite a few racing features from the AMG GT3 and GT4, and needs 3.2 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph). The top speed amounts to 325 km/h (202 mph), making the Black Series stronger than the AMG GT R and therefore the current flagship of the AMG GT family.

The pricing remains open for the base Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, but Mercedes points out that the P One Edition will cost €50,000 extra and will be available only to those who had pre-ordered the One (starting from €2,275,000).
