Video: 800-HP Mercedes-AMG GT 73 testing on the North Loop

Mercedes-AMG continues perfecting its Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid archrival: the mighty GT 73. Spotters have discovered the car on the Nürburgring earlier today.

The test vehicle seems to be lacking a charger port, which might mean it is not a PHEV, but rather a mild hybrid. Then again, the manufacturer does not comment on rumors, so we won’t know until it is revealed on official terms.

Most industry observers seem to agree that the AMG GT 73 will arrive packing a powertrain rated at 800 hp (596 kW) total. Things will probably revolve around a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 assisted by a single electric motor. Outfitted like this, the car should be able to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under three seconds.
