Mercedes-AMG GT 73e set to debut next week

Mercedes-AMG is getting its most powerful hot-hatch-shaped 4-Door Coupe ready to rumble, and it is now official that the hybrid car will be unveiled on Wednesday, September 1.

The car has no official name yet, but is unofficially known as the GT 73e. It comes powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and a rear-axle electric motor. Going all-electric caps the speed at 140 km/h (87 mph) and sends most of the torque to the rear wheels.

Range remains unannounced, but sources claim that the cumulative power output will amount to 815 PS (804 hp / 600 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. Accelerating 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) will allegedly take less than three seconds.

The PHEV is slated to become the most expensive AMG GT vehicle ever, some estimations pointing to $200,000 and above.
