Mercedes-AMG has complemented the GT family with a new roadster model called GT R.
The car sports a removable soft top made of a mixture of stainless steel, magnesium alloy and aluminum trimmed with three layers of fabric. It also boasts bright yellow brake calipers, glossy-black side mirror caps and custom wheels (available in 19” and 20”).
The interior of the GT R houses a 12.3-inch digital dash, a 10.25-inch touch-enabled infotainment display, leather-draped AMG Performance seats and premium finishing materials throughout.
Just like its coupe counterpart, the roadster comes powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine capable of 577 hp (430 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lbft) of torque. The engine links to a 7-speed automatic transmission and accelerates the car 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.6 seconds before maxing out at 317 km/h (197 mph).
Among other things, the Mercedes-AMG GT R features rear-wheel steering, sports suspension, a rear electronic diff lock, and an active aerodynamic kit.
The company plans to limit production to just 750 copies. Prices will be announced later.
